On Feb. 3, 1966 The Cass City Chronicle printed the AAA Guide to Winter Sports Fun in Michigan listing Big Valley as having open slopes and 2 tows. On Thu., Dec. 10, 1970, the same paper published the 1971 AAA Winter Sports Fun List. They reported Big Valley at Newberry had open slopes but now had 3 tows. In 1998, a web page listing attractions in the Newberry area said there was downhill skiing at Big Valley. Many Internet yellow pages sites and ski area lists still mention Big Valley, but I can find no current information that the tows are still turning.
The area is east of Newberry, apparently near the end of Co. Road 428 near Hamilton Lake.
If you have any information about lift-served skiing at Big Valley, please consider posting it or send it to us via the directions on the About MILSAP page.
