I found this area on a list of ski patrol directors for the NM-2 Section of the NSP found in the papers of Alton A. (Bud) Reese who was section chief in the early 1970′s. It listed a P.D, and an Asst. P.D., both of whom resided in the Soo.
Satelliteviews.net identifies this area as being off W Lakeshore Dr. north of the beginning of the St. Mary’s River on the south shore of Whitefish Bay on Lake Superior. No runs are identifiable on the satellite view.
If you have any information about lift-served skiing in the Soo, please post it.

The Lake Shore Ski Club of Sault Ste. Marie, Mich., once gathered at this site for downhill skiing, but it wasn’t served by any kind of lift. And the site was about a half-mile west of where it is indicated on the map, on a ridge near the northwest corner of Monocle Lake. I believe the club skied on a cleared portion of that ridge until maybe the early ’50s. I’m not sure when they began skiing there.
