Beginning in 1922 and running for several years, the Grand Beach Ski Club held an annual ski jumping tournament attracting skiers from throughout the nation. The jump was on top of a dune near the Hotel Golfmore. From the pictures, it looks like there may have been a schussing hill (ski slide?) next to the landing hill. The skiers were served by a ski lift. The hotel burned in 1939, I don’t know when the tow was removed and the jump demolished. The link above has a picture of the slope and jump next to the hotel and a brochure for the 1926 tournament. Depending on the ski slide’s exact location in relation to the hotel, it may have been in Indiana as the hotel seemingly was immediately south of the border.
This jump is not listed by the Ski Jumping Hill Archive (www.skisprungschanzen.com) although they list a neighboring jump near Gary, IN which was hosting competitions during the same period.
